ABOUT ME
My name is Matias de Paula. I’m a native speaker of Spanish from Argentina. I’ve been teaching English and also Spanish as a foreign language since 2004. I currently teach online for the University of Texas in San Antonio, and for Angelo State University. I also tutor students and prepare curricular material for teachers around the world.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
After many years of teaching using “traditional” methods, I realized that they only work for a few students. That’s when I started focusing more on CI (Comprehensible Input). CI is not a teaching method, it’s a principle of language acquisition that states that no one can acquire a language without being exposed to it in a comprehensible and compelling way. And that’s what my job as a teacher is! To make language comprehensible to my students, and to make that language interesting and compelling so that you don’t lose focus!
